Information for attendees

Greetings WPCampus attendee! We can’t wait to learn more about you, your institution, and how you use WordPress. This page is your one-stop shop for attendees information so be sure to check back often.

Follow @wpcampusorg and use our hashtag, #WPCampus, to share and follow along with the event. Help us gather photos of the event by posting your event photos in our WPCampus 2019 Google Photos album.
Your ID badge must be worn at all sessions and conference events.

What you need to know

Here’s an outline of everything on the page, to help keep you informed before and during the event.

Per our schedule, we have three types of sessions: workshops, general lecture/panel, and lightning talks. We provide lunch, snacks, and enough breaks so you have time to use the restroom, stretch your legs, talk to other attendees, and chat with our amazing sponsors. At night, we have social events to allow you to network and relax with other attendees.

Not sure what to expect at the event? Check out the schedule.

You’ll need a WPCampus user account

This year, we’re going to have some fun with mini games during the event. In order to participate, you’ll need a WPCampus user account so we can track your points.

If you’re unsure if you have an account:

  • Test the waters with our login page
    • It also has a link to reset your password

If you don’t have a user account:

Talk with other attendees

In our Slack account? Join our #attendees-2019 channel to chat with other attendees about the event and what to do while you’re in town.

Not in our Slack account? Our Get Involved form will take care of that for you.

Check in for the conference

You will need to check-in to receive your conference ID badge. Your badge is your golden ticket of admission to all the fun! Check-in will be before workshops on Thursday, July 25 and the morning of Friday, July 26.

Your ID badge must be worn at all sessions and conference events.

Get on the Wifi network

The venue will provide Wifi info closer to the event. Be sure to bring your laptop or tablet!

Social gatherings

What’s the fun of attending so many awesome sessions if you can’t hang out with the other attendees and talk about and expand on what you learned? We look forward to getting to know you so we hope you’ll be able to join us for a few social and networking events.

We’ll post more information closer to the event but we usually plan an event for each night.

  • Thursday/Friday night: We usually hang out for a few hours and provide drinks and light hor d’oeuvres.
  • Saturday night: At WPCampus, karaoke is the name of the game for our main social event.
    • Singing is not required and there’s no pressure whatsoever.

Meals

We’ll provide lunch on Friday and Saturday with coffee and snacks throughout the day. Light hor d’oeuvres will be served at all social events.

If you attend a workshop on Thursday, we will provide a snack break.

We’ve listed some of our favorite area restaurants and attractions
on the conference map if you’d like some recommendations for other meals.

The Weather Forecast

They say summer is the best time to visit Portland! The average high for mid-July is the low 80s with the low in the 50s. View the weather almanac

Attire

  • Dress at the conference is business casual — with a strong emphasis on the “casual.”
    • Jeans and t-shirts will be just fine.
  • Session rooms may be chilly, so you may want to bring a sweater or dress in layers.

They should share and learn with each other in an atmosphere of mutual respect. We require all participants adhere to our code of conduct. This applies to all community interaction and events.
